Hi all,

I would like to work with RAW264.7 cells and would like to make sure that they express both MHC II alleles (I-Ad and I-Ed). On the ATCC website, they say that these cells "are negative for surface immunoglobulin (sIg-), Ia (Ia-) and Thy-1.2 (Thy-1.2)" and a colleague seems to remember that they do not express one of these 2 alleles, but can't remember which one.

I have so far been unable to find any literature that would confirm which allele(s) is(are) really expressed at the cell surface. It seems that mRNA at least is made for both alleles (Regulation of gene expression in RAW 264.7 macrophage cell line by interferon-gamma. Kota RS, Rutledge JC, Gohil K, Kumar A, Enelow RI, Ramana CV. Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2006 Apr 21;342(4):1137-46. PMID: 16516165).

Would somebody happen to be able to confirm if both alleles are expressed at the cell surface?

Thanks for your help,

D.

D.,

It might be wise to check this yourself to be certain.
