How about starting a thread which celebrates beauty and nature and life and science. Share images you find captivating or meaningful or just simply beautiful. I’ll start:

The Spitzer Space Telescope caught this awesome image of comets colliding in the Helix Nebula (the red is the comet dust). It’s likened to the red pupil at the center of a green monster's eye.

This is Belionota sumptuosa from Indonesia, a member of one of the most colourful and splendiferous beetle families the Buprestidae. I guess today also a popular merchandise at ebay etc and a pest anyway...
