I am new to the world of PCR so please excuse my ignorance!
I recently ran a RT-PCR and sent the PCR product off for sequencing, to find out if I had indeed amplified my intended target! On receipt of the sequence I did a blast search and it came back that my sequence matched 96% with homo sapiens chromosome 15 genomic contig featuring chondroitin sulphate proteoglycan 4 (NG2). Could someone please explain what this means? I was looking to amplify NG2 - so does this mean the RT-PCR has worked?
Many thanks,
Sam
