Virus Neutralization Assay vs Hemagglutination Inhibition Assay (HAI)?

Which one is more specific and why? I've tried looking but I've just confused myself... Is it the HAI because only certain viruses will bind to a certain type of RBC (eg sheep, chicken etc.) or am I way off?
