hi there,
is there anyone have proper method to screen beta galactosidase activity using agar plates? i used R2A agar suplemented with lactose and x-gal. but i dont see any color changes. what i did was, add lactose and x-gal in R2A agar and autoclave to prepare agar plates. i dont see any clear zone or color changes in the agar plate. i m not sure wether i should add the x-gal in the agar or dilute the x-gal and spread on the agar plate to see any color changes... can anyone help me?

thanks.
