Hi everyone,

I've been offered a postdoc position in USA but I have no idea on what basis I should apply for a visa? I was searching the net and came across the following types of visa:

J1 (a training visa for specific institutions)
F1 (a student visa) - Could I say I'm a student at postdoc level??? :P
H1b or O1 (a job where my skills are required or basically I'm "alien of extraordinary ability")

I'm sooooo confused guys and I need help! I don't know the visa process and what it involves :D

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Thank you!

P.S. I'm a final year PhD student in the UK if that helps.....

Congrats on the post-doc position :D

Surely your new lab/institute could give you this information? I am sure they deal with 'aliens' all the time :D
