I'm currently trying to culture QT6 cells and am having much difficulty.
First my culture media:
Medium 199 with Earle's salts
5% FBS
10% tryptose phosphate broth
1% DMSO
+ antibiotic (pen/strep)
I tried this medium to begin with but my cell started dying. They look spindly & there are a lot of floaters.
Then I took away the DMSO and the cells did a bit better.
I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on culturing these cells.
Thanks!

Even 0.1% DMSO will kill your cells quite quickly unless they are frozen.
The ATCC recommends:

Also, if you really can't get the cells to grow, you can try fiddling with the CO2 concentration. I used to work with a cell line that was recommended for growth at 5%, but I got much better growth at 10%.
