PCR and Cultures

I am looking for a way to extract DNA out of my algae cultures (it is a Bold mineral medium). I know that some components in the culture media can inhibit a PCR reaction. Has anybody good suggestions or even experiences with this kind of problem? Many thanks.

Have you tried it and it didn't work? I'm thinking these inhibitors would disappear in the DNA preparation.
