Hi,

I'm workimng on a gene whose 2 splice variants encode the same proetin. Is this another level of mRNA transcriptional regulation? How are such gene studied? Does anyone know of other genes whose splice variants produce teh same protein?

Thanks

My Ph.D. works involve alternative splicing of exon1 of a hormone receptor (6 of them) and all variants produce same protein since the coding region start at exon3.
However, due to different 5’ UTR sequence, the translation efficiency differs among all variants. That is mechanism of translation regulation for this receptor.

On the other hand, if the splicing occurs within coding region but produce same protein, I think I would like to learn more about this processing.
Could you share more information of this gene?
