I am looking for a good assay that can look at microbial cell viability. any recommendations? It should be robust enough.

I used alamar blue as a cell viability assay.
But you have others too like: this one

it depends on what equipment you are able to use.
And what do you mean exactly by robust enough?

If you don't know it, then ask it! Better to ask and look foolish to some than not ask and stay stupid.
