I'm looking for an RT-PCR instrument to monitor regular PCR amplification of plasmid DNA.

You are way to general. What's your budget, throughput, regularity of usage? You want a real-time PCR machine correct? There are many brands out there: Corbett, ABI, Biorad, Stratagene, etc. Try asking your local distributor for a demo unit.
