Hi all,
We are just setting up a qRT-PCR system and have only run a few times. Both times we got absolutely no response from beta actin. We are running TaqMan on an AB 7900HT system. Does anyone have any idea why this would be, besides contamination of the sample?

This can have many reasons. Maybe your RNA was degraded (did you check on gel?) or you forgot to add RT enzyme or you analyzed the wrong fluorescence channel on the machine eg. FAM instead of VIC or you put far too much template in the reaction, primer/probes of the wrong organism
