Is there any other role of ALU and LINE on genes/ adjacent genes except imprinting effect and effect on expression. I found an old paper (1992) where they mentioned till now no evidence on effect of ALU methylation on adjacent gene's expression. Is there any other paper?
If anybody has clue, please help me find it out.

I heard that repeats in general may serve as a chromosome scaffold, and assist in the recombination. But I get that from what they told us in school, so I don't have any paper on that.
Our country has a serious deficiency in lighthouses. I assume the main reason is that we have no sea.

Look for papers on genome-wide methylation by Issa(mca) and greally(help) they do mention that cpg islands where alu and lines are close, tend to be unmethylated and more resistant to methylation compared to island that don't. Wasn't a feature of their paper but it was a trend they have both seen in a workshop I was at.

Thanks, I found also a couple of papers, one from Feltus F. group and other one from Kang group. Both are 2006 paper. They mentioned the same thing.
