Hi all,
Currently extracting DNA from v. old blood (10 years old) so quality not great as you might expect. Am planning to run the DNA on a ABI3730 sequencer.
I am using the Ambion glycogen carrier to improve yields. 260/280 ratios are acceptable but 260/230 ratios are very poor often <1.0. Was wondering if the glycogen carrier has anything to do with this and if so is there a way to remove it afterwards?
Regards,
Ben

just going through some of the literature (found in a google search), it appears that glycogen requires iodine to absorb in the uv-vis range.
so it is probably not responsible for your low 260/230 ratio.
