Can anyone please suggest a remedy to remove fungal infections from my mesangial cells?
The mixed cultures appear fine up to about the 2-month stage and then become infected with fungi just as the mesangial cells start to grow out. The kidneys which they were harvested  from were obtained under non-sterile conditions but why does any latent infection wait until this time-point to appear?

I am currently growing them in media with 2% Pen/Strep and 2% Fungazole refreshed every 3 days.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Could be just a very slow growing fungi, perhaps as cells start to 'grow out' that there are a lot more growth factors secreted into the media facilitating better growth.
We use nystatin to remove fungi/yeast from contaminated cultures and it works quite well.  Can damage some cell line so would have to test this first.
