Does anyone know whether total Stat5 levels in the mammary gland stay constant? I can find heaps of info on the phosphorylated/activated form, but not the total levels...

hi
normally sta proteins (signal transducer and activators of transcription) are non phosphorylated and remains in cytoplasm for the majority. they are transiently activated, and therefore phosphorylated. They undergo a nuclear adressing. but the relative level of STAT protein is quite the same during these steps. i've made searches on stat 1 stat 3 and their phosphorylated forms (pstat) and i don't have seen a variation of stat. The sign of activation is pSTAT apparition.
