Hi,

I've cloned an archaeal gene which uses GTG (Valine) as it's start codon. Apparently this is quite common in the archaea - does anyone know how I can express it, with Valine as the N terminus, as most systems use Methionine as the N terminus? I'd rather not mutate the start codon to Met, or use an N-term tag if possible. Do eukaryotic systems such as baculovirus inscet expression allow GTG to be used as a start codon?

Hope you can help me!!

cheers,   Chris
