I need to extract DNA from single (i.e., not pooled) mouse embryos 1-3mm in length. Are there kits out there geared towards this kind of purpose? How technically challenging are these kinds of extractions? Can "everyday" protocols (such as those employed in the extraction of DNA from mouse tails) be used for such small amounts of tissue?

As far as I know everyday protocols should work fine, I extract DNA from tail clips from mice using less than 1 mm squared of tissue. For embryos of that size I would have thought the biggest problem would be separating the embryo from placenta etc.
