Borosilicate glass is the most preferred glassware equipment used in the laboratory as compared to soda-lime glass.
There is a huge difference between Borosilicate glass and Soda-lime glass.
Below are the distinguish between Borosilicate Glass and Soda-Lime Glass:
Borosilicate Glass is made up of silica and boron dioxide, which are thermal resistant property.
whereas soda-lime glass is made from silica, sodium dioxide, and calcium oxide
which can withstand only at normal temperature.
The proportion of silica in Borosilicate is much higher than soda-lime glass.
Borosilicate Glass can withstand extremely high temperature but Soda-lime glass can withstand at only normal temperature.
Borosilicate Glass is stronger, harder and more durable than Soda-lime glass.
Borosilicate is mostly used in laboratory glassware, beverage glassware, heaters, telescopes, etc.
whereas Soda-lime glass is used in science laboratories, restaurants, etc
