Hi,

Recently I needed to get DNA and RNA from my treated cells for further analysis. I asked my coworker (a senior PhD) to isolate the nucleic acid for me. What he did is extracting DNA and RNA as total nucleic acid and gave to me for both DNA and RNA analysis. I have never heard about this although all my RT-PCR primers span introns so DNA amplification from RT-PCR should not be a big problem. I would like to know how common this practice is and whether journal reviewers trust such results.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Mario
