Hello all,

I am manipulating an wild type gram negative bacteria (proteus sp), and would like to transform it with an vector for reducing the expression level of cell division protein.

However, I am not sure whether this wild type bacteria have restriction endonuclease system or other system that hinder the transformation.

Shall I knock out those restriction endonuclease system first before my transformation? Further how could I know what type of restriction endonuclease system it have if there is no full genome sequence / publication for this strain?

Thank you very much
