I like the idea of open access and many publishers have joined the movement. I wonder how journal publishers can make money and survive if no income from journal subscription. Will they charge authors for publishing fees?

Many already do; page charges are fairly normal for decently rated journals, such as any of the ASM titles. Low rated journals/comics, frequently bottom feeders for papers, generally don't charge.
