Hello
I am trying to find an RNA extraction method for a virus I am attempting to sequence - Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus. It is a single-stranded, positive-sense RNA virus. It does not incorporate into the host genome like some other RNA viruses, so I am having problems finding an appropriate extraction method. This virus is closely related to Hepatitis C and behaves in the same way, so anyone who has worked with Hep C may know.
I have read some other posts that mention Trizol in regards to extracting RNA from viruses. Is this method ok to use for this type of virus? I am starting with whole blood samples obtained from cattle found positive for the virus.
Thanks. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
