Dear colleagues, I am interested in using microdialysis techniques to investigate the effects of some interventions in brain, but I am a beginner in this kind of technique. I would like to know:
What neurotransmitters can microdialysis extract?
Can proteins such as growth factors be extracted through microdialysis?

Low molecular substances (under 1000 Da) goes without any limitations.
Peptides and proteins are on the same manner, but in this case membrane chracteristis play role. Different membrans - different molecular masses are possible. Growth factors are often big molecules and many of them do not pass. Learn about your membrane/probe parameters.
