Hello !

I am looking for the best practical approach to test the E.coliO157 inoculated in a sample with complex microbial  population  containing generic E.coli. the sample will be subjected to different conditions. So I aim to test the survival and growth of this strain.

How can I trace or tag the E.coli O157 if I am not using the molecular approach? I was told of fluorescent tag , but i am searching around this and i cant seem to find how to do this or what product will i need.

has anyone tried to probably expose the strains to antibiotic (like nalidixic) so it can be traced during plate counting (since the remaining generic e.coli wont be adapted to the same drug).

I appreciate your advice if you could help in this.

Many thx!
