I am running experiments on several cell lines where I need to measure the metabolic activity of these cells.

I am plating cells in DMEM with varying concentrations of FBS (20% - 0%) and have run into the problem of FBS interference.  Using Alamar Blue, the cells which are serum starved have the highest flourescence and the cells lose flourescence as the FBS concentration increases.  After some more reading, I have found that FBS is known to quench this reaction.

Is there a metabolic assay which I can use which will not be directly affected by the FBS concentration?

I would hate to have to create a standard curve for every FBS concentration I am using...

Thanks!
