What do sick human embryonic kidney (293t) cells look like? What are they normally supposed to look like?

How are they sick - old?  infected (mycoplasma, other bacteria, fungi)?, drug treatment?, over growth?... etc?

Have a look for pictures on the ATCC website.

The ATCC has pictures of healthy cells for most cell lines.  I would start there for comparison.

If the cells are contaminated it would be best to throw them out and get up a new tube.  Trying to decontaminate such a common cell line is a waste of time and is quite difficult to do properly without altering the cells themselves.
