Hi folks,

I've a general question about human cell mass / density.

I'm looking to prepare cells for a collaborator for mass spec analysis. He has said that he requires about 100 mg of cells. He usually uses drosophila heads so has no idea about how many cells that might be.

I've done some preliminary measurements and found that about 1x10^7 IMR90 fibroblasts is about 50-60 mg. It seems incorrect to me however and I'm wondering if I'm exaggerating the weight through culture media remaining in the pellet after I've centrifuged the cells.

If anyone has any opinions on whether this ball park figure is right or wrong I'd be grateful for the input.

Thanks,

Rob
