I'm designing a qPCR experiment in Drosophila, and I need a good control gene for some genes that are expressed at low levels. I want to use a control gene that is expressed at a similar level so I can get the best expression data for my genes of interest. One of my best candidates is a mitochondrial ribosomal gene, mRpL50. Has anybody used a mRpL gene as a control before? Any other suggestions for good low-level control genes?
