I want to prepare a pcr mixture with sybr green and use it in an optical thermal cycler. Does anyone know where to purchase the dye that comes in a compatible solution for PCR? and cheap. Thanks.

Why don't you just use some ready-to-use kit such as kit from Applied biosystems or qiagen

If cost is a problem and you want to prepare your mixture, there is a company in china selling PCR grade SYBR green I (cat #SS-7582) at the price about $80 for 5X500ul (~200 pcr reactions). you can find the info here
