For expression of GFP, one used 5'UTR - GFP - SV40 this sequence. What is the role of SV40 sequence in "5'UTR - GFP - SV40"?

It helps to add the polyA tail to the upstream sequence and acts as a transcriptional terminator sequence. Here is a recent paper describing its effects:
