Does anyone knows a well established protocol for cytoplasmic mRNA extraction without using Phenol:chloroform:Isoamylalcohol or a kit? I am doing qPCR afterwards, that is why I do not want to use a phenol-based protocol (and I do not have a kit neither).

Phenol:chloroform extractions are still the gold standard for these sorts of things as far as I am aware.  I don't think there are many options besides kits and P:C.
