Hi

I am looking for detailed protocols to measure gluconeogenesis using deterium water and totoal hepatic glucose production using [2H 2]- glucose in humans.  The papers that I have read do not give enough information in order to actually do the experiments.

briefly, the method that i want to use is for volunteers to ingest deuterium water and infuse [2H 2]- glucose and do penta acetate derivatives of the plasma glucose samples. These will then be measures by GC mass spec to determine deuterium enrichment at specific carbons eg C5.

Please let me know if you have any idea where I can get hold of such protocols.
Thanks,

Jamie
