I am writing my first paper about neural activation but i am stuck at a sentence and i want to reframe it so that it looks better.
The sentence is:
''A pair of fish was divided by a one sided see through mirror wherein a big fish could see a small fish in the first tank followed by a small fish seeing a big fish in the second tank and lastly a big fish seeing a small fish in the last tank for five minutes before interaction''
Can someone help me reframe this sentence? Or do you think is the sentence correct? I would like to make it short
Help needed in reframing a sentence.

Sorry but I'm lost. You've got three different set ups? Because the last one sounds the same as the first one?
And do you mean one-way mirror?
"Pairs of fish were placed into tanks and separated by a one-way mirror for 5 minutes prior to recording interactions. Set ups were such that either only the big fish could see the small fish, or vice versa"
And I think it would be helpful to include a diagram (that's what I would do
)

Many thanks for your reply.
Yes, the setup in 1st tank is similar to tank 3. Just that the aquarium changes
I have included a diagram also to make it clear. i just wanted to reduce the length of the sentence because nobody likes to read such a big sentence and then get confused
