We have been running our PCR products in 1.2% agarose gels in 1XTAE buffer using post-stain SYBR gold.  SYBR gold is supposed to be higher in sensitivity for detection; however, we have been experiencing a lot of problems with visualizing clear bands.  The bands come out extremely blurry, including the DNA ladders.  I have contacted the company for SYBR gold and have had no good luck.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Can anyone give me advice?

Thank you.

How long are you staining for?  We may need a complete gel run and stain protocol to be able to diagnose the problem...
