Hi,
I'm screening several compounds to check their toxicity in colon cancer cell lines by measuring their IC50. However, woul dlike to know, for such assays, is it appropriate to use serum or serum free medium, and why?
Also, does anyone know of good normal colon epithelial cell lines? I have read a few papers on colon cancer and non of them seem to use a normal colol epithelial cell lines for comparison.
Thanks
MTT: serum or serum free medim

I always use media with serum, but with phenol....as to the pros and cons of each, I would only suggest that as you want the cells to be alive and metabolically active, you should keep them happy ! So removing the serum to me seems like it would have a negative effect.
