I was using vapour diffusion (sitting drop) for crystallizing a membrane protein. I read in a book that 'one should always add the precipitant to the protein and not the other way around. This is to avoid high, local concentrations of precipitant which might precipitate the protein'
I was wondering if it is true for the method I used, as I can't find anything regarding this in the web.
