Hi! I'm a high school student and Im doing restriction enzyme mapping. I was wondering if you could help me understand a problem I was given.
Eco - 12 bp, 9bp, and 6bp
Bam - 40bp
Eco and Bam - 16bp, 12bp, 6bp

I get that since on the gel, you can't tell if there is numerous of the same one. If you have 120 bp total you could have Eco = 9,9,9,9,9,9,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,12
Bam = 40,40,40
But I don't know how I could get 16 in the final combination when there is no fragment larger than 12 in the Eco cuts.

If you could help me solve it, it would be so greatly appreciated!
Katie O.
