I am trying to perform a quantitative oil red staining. The problem I have is that I have nothing to normalize against. I am running two different cell lines and would like to compare the quantitative oil red staining against each other. The problem is that my treatments on the two cell lines are different and cause some cells to undergo apoptosis. So I can't simply normalize by plating the same number of cells. I was thinking of normalizing by protein or DNA content, but I am not sure how. Can anyone help?
