I have been reading papers that mention 'expression of gene in trans'

What does that mean? Is it the same as 'introducing a gene into a cell on a plasmid and then expressing it'

Any help is appreciated. Thanks folks.

Avi.

'introducing a gene into a cell on a plasmid and then expressing it'   - This is generally referred to as exogenous expression. I believe "trans" is another, albeit odd way to describe this.
