I have a problem with this terminology.

What does imprinted gene mean?

I always assumed it ment that the imprinted gene is the inactive one: for example => imprinted male gene, means that the male allel is not active.
However I also found a paper that seems to say that the imprinted gene is the active one => imprinted male, means male allel is active.

Is it possible both are used?
