Hello everyone. New here, but have used these forums before looking for answers for certain questions and what not. I was buying some IPTG from our core, and noticed that there were two variations of the IPTG, one without (much cheaper) and one with 13.3% dioxane. I was just wondering if anyone knows if its possible that dioxane can produce a contaminant band when running a protein sample on a SDS page gel. Also, what are the pros and cons of having dioxane? I have looked it up online, and have seen where it is beneficial for crystallization and possibly also for solubility problems, but also have seen some posts that it is pointless to use dioxane and can potentially inhibit growth of certain strains of bacteria.
