I got some COS7 cells from a neighbouring lab that was grown in DMEM media containing Penicillin and Strep antibiotics. Can I continue growing the cells in DMEM media which is free of any antibiotics?

Yes. And in fact you should!

Unless I am using it as a selection agent, I never use antibiotics. Be sure to freeze down stocks of cells right away though!
