Serum starvation for cell cycle analysis

Hi,

I would like to compare cell cycle between two different cell lines, WT and KO for my gene. I'm just wondering if I should serum starve the cells to synchronize them prior to harvesting for FACS? I'm just looking at basal levels, without any treatments.
