there's someone in my lab had this problem that her
gel melted during the electropherosis, does anyone know what might've happened?

The problem might be with the Running buffer...What conc of TAE used for running ?, if used too concenterated would get heated up while running and that might have caused the gel melting...

You do not change your running buffer for quite some time... accumulated too much salt > high voltage > too hot > melt....
or... too high running voltage.
or... too high running voltage.

Low melting point agarose instead of regular agarose.
