Hi,

let's assume I have a EcoRI buffer with this components:

1X Composition
• 50 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.5 at 37°C)
• 10 mM MgCl2
• 100 mM NaCl
• 0.02 % Triton X-100
• 0.1 mg/ml BSA

Does anyone now the exact function of these components?

My assumptions
- Tris-HCl: simple buffer fo optimal pH conditions
- MgCl2, co-factor of EcoRI?
- NaCl ?
- Triton?
- BSA: enhances protein stability and binds to contaminants; binds to reaction tube surface and prevents enzymes to bind there
