Dear forum members,

I work with hybridomas and I suspect my cell cultures are infected with some kind of virus.
I think so because the cells behave in a weird way and they die after a couple of passages. There is no evidence of bacteria, including mycoplasma. As we dicharged bacteria (and fungi) contamination, we conclude it must be a virus.
My question is whether there is any drug/kit to identify this potential virus and to treat these cells.

If you suspect contamination, throw them out and start again. Even if you could "cure" them, they will never be the same. You would be wasting time and energy to try and figure this out, in my opinion.

Unfortunately I cannot throw away my cells, these are precious hybridomas! I can´t replace them.

What make you think virus anyway? What do you see? Where could the virus have come from? What virus?

Also, when you say no evidence of mycoplasma, what do you mean?

When you say your cells behave weird what do you mean?

Have you got any pictures of healthy versus these "weird" cells.

Don't you have any stocks of your cells frozen down?
