Trying to wrap my mind around this, and there seems to be a lot of misinformation on the internet about how this study was done.

I understand that one way to generate clones is to fuse live cell donors with enucleated oocytes.  This obviously would not work since the frozen cells would not have viable cell walls.  

My interpretation of how the authors successfully cloned these mice goes as follows, is this correct?

-Attempted to inject frozen donor neuronal nuclei into enucleated oocytes, did not take

-Injected frozen donor neuronal nuclei into stem cells, they took.  Injected those stem cells into blastocyst to generate chimeras which were then mated until clone was formed.  

If this is correct, any idea why the stem cells took while the oocytes did not?  The authors did not talk about this in the discussion.
