have any of you found one type of media that works better than the others for the general growth of huvecs?

Try supplemented MCDB131 or M199 with 20% FCS, endothelial cell growth supplement (ECGS, 75 µg/ml) and heparin (10 U/ml). My primary HUVECs and HUV-EC-C cell line both grow very well in both media. Additionally, I'm using collagen-coated culture dishes. Though these cells are often cultured in uncoated dishes, in my opinion coating delays dedifferentiating of these cells.
