Hi everybody.
I am planning to screen my bacteria for their ability to produce EPS.
I would use the protocol which uses the Carbolfuchsin  solution.
Has anybody information about the preparation protocol of that solution?
Apart any other ideas concerning protocols for EPS detection are welcomed.

Regards,

Panagiotis

you'll have to watch out for the Ziehl-Neelsen carbolfuchsin, the solution is prepared this way:

1g basic Fuchsin is dissolved in 10-15ml absolute Ethanol;
dissolve 5g Phenol under heavy shaking in 95ml Aqua dest;
unify both solutions.

p
